Drive-by recognition should be illegal.

John Graci, Graci Leadership Solutions

Drive-by recognition is widespread these days. We all have been on the receiving end of a leader saying, “Nice job,” “Thatta Boy/Girl” and “You keep up the good work!” This type of recognition can come off as manipulation. If a leader wants recognition to stick, it needs to be sincere, factual and timely. Example: “Matt, thanks for staying late yesterday, you helped us meet our deadline.” It takes skills to be an effective leader. Leaders are made, they are not born!
